Wortley Village
A small-town main street a short walk from downtown.

Wortley Village has the feel of a small town tucked into a city. Wortley Road is lined with independent shops, cafes, restaurants and services, and neighbours tend to bump into each other on the sidewalk. The heart of the area is the former London Normal School, a heritage teachers' college that now houses the regional YMCA, and the lawn in front of it hosts community events through the year.
The surrounding streets are full of older homes, from tidy cottages to grand brick houses, and much of the area is protected as the Wortley Village-Old South Heritage Conservation District. Downtown is only a short walk or bike ride across the river, and the Thames Valley Parkway is close by for weekend outings. Seasonal traditions like Halloween in the Village and Christmas in the Village give the neighbourhood a strong community calendar.
