Thinking of moving to London, Ontario? What newcomers ask first

London has a way of surprising people. It is a mid-sized city with leafy streets, a university and college, a busy hospital network, and an easy pace compared with the Greater Toronto Area. Here are the questions newcomers ask me most often.

Which neighbourhood is right for me?

It depends on what you value. Older central neighbourhoods offer character homes and walkability. Newer subdivisions on the edges of the city offer more space and newer construction. My neighbourhood guides are a good place to start.

How do people get around?

Many Londoners drive, but the London Transit Commission runs bus routes across the city, and the Thames Valley Parkway gives walkers and cyclists a long, scenic path along the river. Highway 401 and Highway 402 connect the city to Toronto, Windsor and Sarnia.

What is there to do?

Quite a lot: theatre, live music, festivals in the downtown parks, farmers’ markets, and plenty of green space. Read more in my Living in London guide.

How should I plan a long-distance purchase?

Start with a call so I understand your timing and priorities. I can send listings, do video walk-throughs, and help you plan a focused visit so you can see the best options in person.
